European projects

Background

The Euroregion aims to:

  • assert itself as a territory of projects on a European level,
  • support with a single voice key projects for the balanced and sustainable development of our territories, while preserving our natural wealth.

Since its creation, the Euroregion has supported cooperation between socio-economic and cultural actors in the three territories, notably through participation in 16 European projects, including 11 as lead partner, involving more than 100 partners from across Europe, 9 different European programmes, and more than €25 million in European funding, including €22 million for the territory.

The Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion is currently coordinating or participating in six European projects:

Carbon Farming, Interreg Euromed – developing a carbon farming model in the Mediterranean as a new green economic model – launched in January 2024 for a period of 33 months.

CESAM, I3 – circular economy in the agri-food sector – launched in September 2023 for a period of three years, with a call for projects for cascade funding

Fashion Forward, Interreg SUDOE – promoting the transformation of the fashion industry towards a more sustainable model – started in January 2024 for a period of two and a half years.

LocAll4Flood, Interreg Euromed – reducing flood risks in small catchment areas – started in January 2024 for 33 months.

The Eastern Coastal Functional Area (AFLE), Interreg Poctefa OP5 – management, coordination and facilitation by the EPM of this integrated area from July 2022 to July 2029. The first call for projects was launched in March 2024 and closed in early 2025. The second and final call for projects closed in early October 2025.

Smart Green Water, Interreg SUDOE – improving the use of water resources in agriculture – launched in January 2024 for two and a half years.

In addition, the Euroregion is an associate partner in five projects, including:

  • Three relating to Interreg EUROMED Governance, selected in 2022. In this capacity, the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion will monitor the work of the STC (tourism) and GoMed! projects on innovation and Dialog4Nature in conjunction with the members of the MedCoopAlliance.
  • One Life project, Pyrénées4clima, on the impact of climate change on the Pyrenees, led by the Pyrenees Working Community (CTP).
  • And finally, one Trempoline 2 project on cross-border youth mobility for work, training and internships, led by CRIJ Occitanie as part of an Interreg POCTEFA programme.

In addition, the Euroregion is preparing for the next European programme period 2028-2034 in order to obtain new strategic programmes.
