The Euroregion Pyrenees Mediterranean, in collaboration with the Association of Rural and Maritime Initiatives (ARCA) and Generalitat de Catalunya, promotes the Euroregional Meeting “Cooperate to transform”, an initiative linked to the Environment Commission and the Fishing Group aimed at strengthening cooperation between the rural and maritime territories of our cross-border territory.
During the 26th, 27th and 28th of November 2025, this meeting will serve as a collective learning space, where rural and fisheries local action groups (LAG and GALP), sector professionals, local administrations, development agents and students will be able to share experiences and reflect on rural and maritime policies. The debates will focus on common territorial challenges, placing special emphasis on the Rural Agenda and the Maritime Strategy of Catalonia, and will promote innovative proposals and participatory methodologies to promote sustainable development.
The event also aims to revalue the LEADER methodology and the work of LAGs and GALPs in Catalonia, Spain and France, culminating in a joint manifesto that strengthens cross-border cooperation and the continuity of European funding beyond 2027. Thus, it seeks to consolidate a sense of Leader community and promote strategic alliances for the future of rural and coastal areas.
The meeting has the active participation of entities and administrations linked to territorial, rural and maritime development, such as the Catalan Association of Municipalities, the Representation of the European Commission in Barcelona, the Barcelona Provincial Council, Medcities, the Barcelona Metropolitan Strategic Plan, the Catalan Culture Congress, the National Fishermen’s Federation and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, as well as the support of international networks such as REDR, Leader France, ELARD, Europe Direct and the Spanish Network of Fishing Groups.
This event is included in the official calendar of Mediterranean Day, reinforcing the Euroregion’s commitment to cooperation, sustainability and the promotion of the heritage and development of Mediterranean territories.
